What this machine is actually teaching
When the puck hits a wall it leaves at exactly the angle it arrived — the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. The wall does not curve it, slow it, or think about it. It just mirrors it.
Which means a bank shot is completely predictable. Pick the spot on the wall, and the rebound path is already decided before you hit it. The dotted line shows the mirror while you aim; after a few rallies you will stop needing it.
Light does this too, which is why mirrors work, and sound does it, which is why a room echoes. One rule, three completely different things.
