DECK 17 · THE PICTURE HOUSE · ONE SCREEN · ALWAYS SHOWING

The crew made a picture.

Three acts, nine minutes of film compressed into about thirty seconds, drawn frame by frame in front of you rather than played from a file. They ride, they run, they swim, and then they fill up and go. Free, no signup, and nothing in it is for sale.

What you are watching.

Act one · The Ride

A paceline on a dark road with a ridge behind it. They found the road before they found the words for it.

Act two · The Run

No wheels, no excuses, and the sun comes up whether or not anyone was ready for it.

Act three · The Swim

Water is the only thing out here that pushes back politely. Five lanes, five wakes.

Everything on this screen is generated live — the crew are our own figures, the acts are the three disciplines the vessels are built for, and no frame of it is borrowed from anyone else’s picture. If it reminds you of something you have seen, that is because animated crews of small creatures are older than any studio: the shape belongs to nobody. The characters, the palette and the story are ours.
